Are there on course Bag Drops for the Ultra Marathon ?

Yes, we have a dedicated team member who will take your nutrition pack(s) and drop them at your requested mile marker on the course.

You should prepare your packs in advance, and clearly label them with your race number and the mile marker you want it dropped at.

Can I use the Longford Marathon to qualify to run in Boston ?

Longford Marathon are long time members of the Association of Marathons and International Distance Running (AIMS). Historically Boston Marathon have always accepted official times in AIMS affiliated Marathons as acceptable for qualification to take part in their race.

We submit our results to them each year and it has always been the case that these were acceptable.

However we would advise that you make this inquiry direct to the Boston Marathon Organisers in case they have changed their qualification criteria.

Are there pacers in the Marathon ?

Yes, we have pacers in the marathon for 3.00, 3.15, 3.30, 3.45, 4.00 and 4.15. Our pacers are identifiable by their pink pacer t-shirts and their balloon with the time they are pacing for on it.

Are there Pacers in the Half Marathon ?

Yes, we have pacers in the half marathon for 1.30, 1.45, 2.00 and 2.15. Our pacers are identifiable by their pink pacer t-shirts and their balloon with the time they are pacing for on it.

Are the races Chip Timed ?

Yes, all of our races from the 5K to the Ultra Marathon are chip timed using Champion Chip Ireland. Your Timing Chip is on the back of your race number so its vital that your wear your race number on the day.

Where and when can i collect my number and race pack ?

We are open for number and race pack collection on Saturday from 1pm to 6pm in the main ballroom at the Longford Arms Hotel and on Sunday morning from 6am also in the Ballroom at the Longford Arms Hotel.

When does registration close ?

Online registration remains open until 12. Midnight on the Friday before the race.

Are there Medals for all Finishers

Yes, we have custom designed high quality medals for all finishers in all races, from the 5K to the Ultra Marathon.

Can I enter on the morning of the race ?

Unfortunately, due to the number of people expected to collect their race numbers, timing chips goody bags etc on the morning of the race we cannot accept new entries on the Sunday morning.

We keep online entry open until midnight on the Friday before our races and once you're registered you can run on Sunday.

We also have limited availability to enter in person at the Longford Arms Hotel on Saturday afternoon between 1pm and 5pm.

Are there Drink Stations on the course and where are they ?

We have drink stations on the Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon course approximately every 3 miles. There will be water in both cups and bottles available at the stations.

At later stages in the Marathon and Ultra Marathon and at the 10 mile mark in the half marathon there are also energy drinks available.

Where and when do i get my bus for the Marathon Relay changeover

Buses leave Richmond Street around the corner from the Longford Arms Hotel to the changeover points at Tarmonbarry, Rooskey and Newtownforbes.

The 1st bus leaves at 9.15am and drops off the second leg runners in Tarmonbarry and picks up the first leg finishers.

The 2nd bus leaves Richmond Street at 9.45am and drops the 3rd leg runners in Rooskey and picks up the second leg finishers.

The 3rd bus leaves Richmond Street at 10.30 from Richmond Street and drops the 4th leg runners in Newtownforbes and picks up the 3rd leg finishers.

How does the relay work ?

Our Marathon Relay allows a team of 4 people to cover the marathon distance in 4 stages. Stage 1 is Longford to Tarmonbarry which is approximately 7 miles, Stage 2 is Tarmonbarry to Rooskey, again approximately 7 miles, Stage 3 is Rooskey to Newtownforbes, also about 7 miles and the final stage is from Newtownforbes back to the finish line in Longford approx 5 miles.

We have buses scheduled to bring the participants to and from the various changeover points, but if you prefer to get a friend to drop you to / collect you from the changeover points then that is fine too.

Each member of the team will get a goody bag, T-Shirt and a finishers medal.

Do you have a bag drop facility ?

Yes, you can drop a bag at our bag drop facility in the old Providers Building on Main Street (beside the Longford Arms Hotel) on the morning of the race. You''ll receive a ticket which you must produce when collecting your bag. Note : we do not accept responsibility for lost bags, so don't leave valuables in the bag you drop.

Where does the race start and finish ?

The Start and Finish of all our events, 5K, Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon is on the Main Street of Longford Town outside the Longford Arms Hotel.

What time does the race start.

The scheduled start times are as follows:
